Deserted
in a hard knock orphanage run by the less
than kindly Miss Hannigan, Annie escapes to an easier
life outside during the Great Depression where tomorrow is always
brighter because of hope--and a certain
stray dog tags along for the fun.
Separated from her new pal, Sandy, when she
is returned to the orphanage, Annie escapes once again,
this time on the arm of a billionaire's
secretary. Daddy Warbucks, capitalist
complete, wants to entertain an orphan for
Christmas.
And entertain he does! The rest of the
holiday and musical is a whirl of adventure
as Annie charms Warbucks, F.D.R., the U.S.
Cabinet and an entire country. And at the
end, a Merry Christmas for all (except for Miss Hannigan & Co.) as Annie is
adopted by Warbucks and reunited with Sandy.
